There are two ways people look at “story” in this world of coaching and healing.katied

1. Empowered story: the story about your life and your path that you desire to share with the world to inspire, motivate and create change.

2. Disempowered story: the story you keep telling yourself about why you can’t, won’t, don’t want to, never will.

Which story are you telling?

I speak with over 100 women every month and connect with thousands every week through our communities like Goddess Circle. I witness my sisters as they share their stories, their possibilities, their fears.

Some are empowered, or headed there. They cut through tangled brush to get to truth again and again, just as IGC Leader Shannon Whaley will share with you today. Amidst chaos, these valiant goddesses prove their dedication to the path. Day after day, they fight for love, carrying the sword of initiation.

But others are SO disempowered. They have a dream deep down in there. They might even talk about it incessantly. It may be the only thing on their minds. If it’s not a lack of passion, what’s the difference? How can one person create an empowered story while another remains stuck in a disempowered one?

Truth: if you are more committed to FEAR than LOVE, your dream will never work.

Yep, I said it. If you don’t #GoddessUp real fast, forget about it.

Some people are so committed to their stories of how their lives aren’t working that they’ll go to battle with you over it. “It will never get better!” “There’s no point in trying because it won’t work anyway.” They blame their ex-boyfriends, ex-husbands, middle school teachers and of course, their parents.

DON’T BE THAT PERSON.

”Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t—you’re right.” —Henry Ford

If you’re in a more disempowered place right now, I know it’s just because you’re afraid. Terrified even. You’ve had your heart broken too many times, and you’re exhausted. You don’t want to fight anymore so you surrender to your fears. “It’s not in the cards,” you say to yourself.

Believe me, I get it. I had one hell of a year in 2015. But my worst year ever, was also the best. I thought about giving up a million times, but then I remembered: giving up is the only way to fail.

In the midst of a heated discussion Sunday night, my good friend, Olivia Chapman, reminded me: “Katie, the only way we can fail is to give up. And you know that’s not an option.”

With every opportunity, there is also a chance to give up. To give in. To go back to old ways.

Thinking about giving up is normal and expected when you’re up to big things. Actually throwing in the towel is not an option. Find the story within that keeps you going. We’re writing her-story here, woman.

Big love,

Katie
