If you’re anything like me, the recent events of the world have spun you into a dizzying cycle of fear, anger, sadness, and a new kind of paralysis that you may not be as familiar with. The violence, the racism, the hatred being spewed by various opposing sides and even political leaders is not something our generation has experienced on this level, at this intensity.
Especially if you’re a sensitive person, you may have experienced those moments when an event or situation is so big, so profound, and so troubling that you feel frozen, wishing you could help but unsure of what that could even look like.
The current social and political climate has been one of those things for me — where I felt at a loss to do anything, and so my instinct was to shut down.
It started to feel like there was nothing I could do; like there was no ‘win’ to this situation; like I was helpless to make any kind of difference to help, even in a small way, to shift the energy away from hate and fear.
Until I was doing something innocuous — something like driving or taking a shower, on auto-pilot, when my monkey-mind wasn’t as active — and I heard loud and clear from my Higher Self that there WAS something I could do. And that WE can do.
I heard that I was to write an article for Huffington Post (I’d never done that before, so part of me scoffed… but I’ve also learned not to doubt my Higher Self’s voice) — and I heard that the solution to these horrific and escalating acts of violence and separation, of judgment and polarization, was in the very opposite direction from where we’ve all been looking:
That instead of debating, discussing and looking for a solution — we should be standing for changing the conversation entirely.
We should be standing not just FOR Love — but IN Love. AS Love.
