1. What inspired you to become a coach, and how did the IGC Coaching School help you take the leap?

The energy exchange is what inspired me to be a coach. I believe when you work at a deep level with intention, you are open to receiving a different frequency of energy. The role of coach is a role I hold with much reverence. As I mature in my personal practice, I know I want to pave the way for the generations that come after me. Before I discovered how impactful coaching can be, and the structure that IGC provided me along the way, I was missing a sustainable way to create lasting change. IGC helped me identify my unique talents and transform them into my strengths. Through the coaching school I found an exciting, new way to lead grounded in what already came naturally to me.

2. What’s one lesson you’ve learned in Coach Training/Leaders Rising that has made a big difference in your coaching or business?

My biggest takeaway from coaching training is that laying a strong structural foundation for your business is a major life, and time, saver. Before I found IGC, my approach was very floaty, very fluid – sometimes leading to awesome breakthroughs, sometimes not, but always leaving me wondering how to prepare for the next session. After graduating from Coach Training, no matter what kind of client I was working with, I always felt supported by the structure I learned in the program. Maybe more importantly, I see my clients begin to appreciate the structure too. And the breakthroughs, both big and small, are happening at a level that is much more sustainable compared to how I was coaching before.

3. What’s the biggest mindset shift you’ve had on your coaching journey?

My Mom died the same year I graduated coach training. I never knew how beneficial my coaching mindset would turn out to be as I sat present with someone through the process of dying, especially that being a parent. I won’t go into too much detail, but during a family health crisis, there’s a lot of communication that needs to happen – talks with the doctors, decision making, planning necessary arrangements, understanding next steps, etc. You need to remain as clear as possible day after day after day. As the oldest daughter, ‘coach mode’ was a familiar state-of-mind, but this situation required a significant amount of added focus and energy. Fortunately, when the time came to have the hard conversations, to gather resources, and to organize funerary proceedings, I am proud to say that I showed up with resilience and compassion, balanced enough to be mindful of the needs of others while not forgetting my own. I’ll be honest, I surprised myself a little bit. That experience changed the way I look at life now. But I can say that IGC Coach Training gave me tools that exceed the bounds of a coaching session. And the more you invest in yourself and your personal growth, the more you’ll be able to apply those learned lessons in all areas of your life.

4. What advice would you give to someone considering IGC Coach Training?

My advice is pretty simple – stay open. Since I was already working with clients, I went into the program excited to learn some pointers and tips to get my clients past the recurring patterns holding them back. What I got was a reflection of the coach I was and a glimpse at the coach I wanted to be. Even though I was receiving the knowledge and experience I had hoped for when signing up, I learned to set my expectations aside and follow the rhythm of the program. The open coaching calls are insightful and the community is so supportive. Really, I went in to help my business by focusing on my business. Instead, my business continues to grow because I was open to focusing on myself as a leader.

5. What are you currently working on in your coaching business? (New offers, programs, retreats, speaking, etc.)

Well, you know, your girl always has a couple projects in the works – but most recently I designed and published the CEO Business Playbook! What’s a playbook, you ask? It’s a quarterly strategy guide for coaches, entrepreneurs, and small business owners. It represents my own personal evolution from the coach who relied on scattered post-its and countless open tabs to the owner of an LLC who plans, tracks, and flows all in one well-organized place. Whether you’re just starting out, or your business has been thriving for several years, it’s important to connect and reconnect with your business at its roots as it grows. What’s your inspiration? What’s working? What’s in need of a makeover? I designed the playbook to encourage a personal creative flow built around a framework grounded in trackable progress. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned since graduating from Coach Training is that disorganization is contagious. And if you have the bug, there’s a good chance your business and your bank account will too.
