I’m really excited about my latest article: How to Become More Spiritual, featured this month in Motto, TIME Magazine‘s newest section.
“When it comes to spirituality, the only rule is that there are no rules,” I wrote.
And to be honest, that’s how I feel about most everything.
Whether you’re talking about relationships, fashion, love or spirituality, there really are no rules.
But what about business? Are there a set of rules you have to play by in order to win? When I first started my coaching career, I wasn’t following any “rules.” I didn’t have a business plan and my only revenue goal was to make back the money I invested in my training. Rather than rules, I followed my heart and that served me well for many years.
But then my life turned upside down. My brother died unexpectedly, my relationship dissolved almost overnight + parts of my business completely fell apart. I was so consumed by the pain, that it became easier to stay tapped out than get tapped in. It hurt to go within. To write. To find the words. I wrote crappy copy, tried to keep up with what everyone else was doing + lost myself (in funnels, followers + Facebook ads).
In some ways, I really pulled it off amidst the chaos of 2015. But I’m exhausted.
My wake up call came a few weeks ago. Alexis Bethel, one of my closest colleagues + friends, came to me in total frustration. “Coaching is sacred to me, and people aren’t treating it that way,” she shared. Alexis is our Director of Mastermind and the Leader of Glow Coach Training starting this July. She’s also a solid stand for balance, authenticity + alignment. We discussed the trends we’ve been seeing in the industry. Over marketing. Over selling. Over promising. Over it. And because we’re trained to see our part in everything, we asked the hard questions. How is this us? How have we been overstepping our bounds?
Overall, it’s business as usual back at Inner Glow Circle, but behind closed doors our team is in realignment mode. We’re tapping in to our core truth and clarifying our message. We’re adding new features, because they feel good, not because someone told us too. We’re getting back to basics, our center, ourselves. We’re falling back in love with the work we LOVE to do and realigning with our mission once again. Thanks for calling us forth, holding us accountable + being with us on this crazy ride towards love and truth.
