If everything was perfect and easy all of the time, would that even be real life? Do we even want that?
As someone who has experienced some painful ups and downs as woman and CEO, it can be challenging to see the beauty in all of the breakdowns. Of course, I know that some of our greatest learnings, experiences and life lessons come from hitting rock bottom or being in total breakdown, but I also know that sometimes it feels almost impossible to get back up! Sometimes it feels unbearable to recognize and own the fact that yes, there is in fact more growth needed. Yes, I have more work to do… especially when it comes to business.
Just when you think you’ve found your flow… BAM, something gets in the way.
Just when you think your business is totally expanding in all of the ways that you envisioned for it… lookout, obstacle ahead.
Just when you figure out exactly what you’re selling and you’ve thought about it, planned it, executed it and you hear crickets… breakdown commence.
What if I told you that this was all absolutely okay? What if I told you that all of this was actually worth celebrating? The way I see it, there’s nothing wrong with realizing that things aren’t working. When you’re committed to personal development and constantly growing, everything doesn’t work, all the time.
Haven’t you heard the saying, “every next level of your life will demand a different you?” This couldn’t be more true, especially as a growing entrepreneur. If we’re constantly growing, we must also welcome the growing pains.
Being a woman in business will always be a series of ups and down, the power that you have is turning those messes into your message. It’s in falling and getting back up stronger than before. It’s turning every challenge, obstacle, meltdown or mess into your next opportunity, your next breakthrough.
You want to get more visible online and build a brand that makes potential clients swoon? Create a breakthrough around your marketing and branding strategy and get yourself out there.
You want to avoid burnout and high stress in your new biz venture? Create a breakthrough around self-care before it’s too late (or you’re too tired).
You want to create a product, service or movement that’s in alignment with your deepest passions and goals? Create a breakthrough around intuition and start trusting yourself now.
You want to finally leave your “bridge job” or safety net for the life of a full-time CEO? Create a breakthrough around overcoming fear and just leap.
The beauty here is really twofold: one, if you run into challenges and obstacles on your path, it means that you’re moving forward. I mean, how can you run into anything at all if you’re at a standstill? Two, it’s truly natural to have ebbs and flows, expansion and contraction. So, even if you’re in total messy breakdown, it means that you are now that much closer to creating your next breakthrough, your next level, your next step towards success.
Am I making this sound too easy? Too possible? Probably. But I will say, it doesn’t actually have to be that hard. Want to know my secret? I have a divine support team. A team of women by my side who support me when I’m in total breakdown. I have a community of supportive sisters and coaches who always stand for my breakthroughs and bring their own unique experiences, expertise and words of wisdom whenever I need it.
Breakdowns aren’t always pretty, but they’re always easier to move through when you have a supportive team of women holding you up, and holding you accountable.
